Workers' Safety Commission to Propose Guidelines for Safeguarding Employees from Radiation Hazards via a New Directive.

In the heart of Pforzheim, construction work on the renovation of the Western Karl-Friedrich-Straße pedestrian zone has officially commenced. The main construction work started on March 13, 2023, with the aim of developing this area aesthetically and functionally.

The renovation will progress throughout the year, with two teams moving forward in both directions along the Western Karl-Friedrich-Straße in eight construction phases. Initially, the focus will be on the northern side of the street, and later, the southern side will follow suit.

The work will primarily involve laying empty pipes with a view to the planned broadband expansion. The renovation of the pedestrian zone will extend from Barefoot Street to the Market Square, and further to Leopoldstraße. The aim is to significantly enhance the city centre and provide a more enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike.

Residents and the wider community are encouraged to participate in various actions and stay informed about the progress of the renovation. A summer festival is being planned, complete with construction site tours, children's activities, and musical entertainment.

It's worth noting that the renovation does not currently include the side streets branching off from the Western Karl-Friedrich-Straße on the Western side. However, these areas are expected to follow in the coming years.

The renovation is being overseen by Roger Heidt, CEO of Stadtwerke Pforzheim (SWP), and Oliver Reitz, Director of Wirtschaft and Stadtmarketing Pforzheim (WSP). They plan to offer targeted incentives and draw attention to the diverse offers in the city during the renovation.

The completion date is planned in time for the Christmas market and Christmas shopping, ensuring that the city centre remains bustling and vibrant throughout the festive season.

The start of this renovation project marks an exciting time for Pforzheim, as the city continues to evolve and improve its infrastructure and amenities for all to enjoy. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the Western Karl-Friedrich-Straße pedestrian zone renovation.
