The Public Authority for Manpower in Kuwait has announced a summer work ban, beginning Sunday, June 1, and lasting till the end of August, to safeguard workers from heat-related hazards. During these hours, between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily, outdoor labor in open areas is prohibited, as mandated by Administrative Resolution No. 535/2015.

The regulation is essential in protecting workers during Kuwait's sweltering summer, an effort that aligns with international labor standards. The Authority's Acting Director, Marzouq Al-Otaibi, emphasized the importance of strict compliance, with inspection teams scheduled for unannounced site visits. Violators will be documented and face legal consequences.

Al-Otaibi clarified that the intent is to regulate working hours to prioritize worker safety, minimizing risks to both laborers and ongoing projects. He reassured stakeholders that the ban aims to preserve life and human dignity, especially amidst adverse weather conditions.

The measure has garnered support from companies across diverse sectors in previous years, and it reflects Kuwait's dedication to ethical labor practices and international labor protection commitments during peak heat hours. Employers bear the responsibility for ensuring their employees' health and safety, while the ban is part of the country's broader commitment to responsible and humane labor standards.

For more efficient enforcement, citizens and workers are encouraged to report violations through the Authority's dedicated hotline: 24936192. Reports will receive prompt attention, and appropriate action will be taken.

Awareness campaigns, such as 'Their Safety Is Most Important,' will also be conducted to educate both employers and workers regarding the importance of the midday work ban. The social media campaign, which is multilingual, promotes the regulation as integral to public and worker safety during the summer months, reinforcing Kuwait's commitment to best labor practices and human values.

The summer work ban is an integral part of Kuwait's commitment to responsible and humane labor standards, focusing on health-and-wellness of workers during peak heat hours. Aligned with international labor standards, this measure promotes workplace-wellness by reducing heat-related hazards and safeguarding human dignity.
