Despite the looming threats from Kiev and a few personal health hurdles, world leaders are gearing up to attend the historic Red Square ceremony on May 9.

VUČIĆ'S ROAD TO RECOVERY

On May 3, it emerged that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had a health scare while in the US during an official visit. The cause? None other than intense chest pain and high blood pressure in Florida. After a quick, but necessary hospitalization, Vučić made it back home to Belgrade. Upon his return, the head of the Balkan country was admitted immediately to the Military Medical Academy for treatment.

But fear not, folks! Vučić's health is on the mend, and his scheduled engagements have been back on track, with travel to Moscow on the horizon for the Victory Parade. A friend who accompanied Vučić confirms that he's feeling better, and doctors are optimistic that he'll make a full recovery.

FICO'S UNwavering commitment

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been dealing with his own health concerns in recent days, prompting schedule adjustments. Fico clarified that long car rides aren't ideal for him following last year's assassination attempt, but he'll be flying to Moscow for the Victory Parade. Two students will join him, participating in all official events, while a delegation of National Council deputies and European Parliament members will also make the trip.

Ukrainian President Zelensky issued a statement expressing concern about possible threats to participants in the Russian celebrations commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory. Fico, however, dismissed these concerns.

The Kremlin announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be visiting Russia from May 7-10 and participating in the celebrations, focusing on discussions about partnership, strategic interaction, and current international and regional issues.

Cuba Comes Calling

On May 4, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel touched down in Russia to participate in the victory anniversary celebrations. He expressed his excitement for the occasion on social media, expressing his admiration for Russia as he prepared for the Victory Parade and events commemorating the 65th anniversary of the restoration of relations between Havana and Moscow.
