Villanova Student Morgan Panzirer Publishes Inspiring T1D Journey in 'Actually, I Can'
Morgan Panzirer, a 22-year-old Villanova University student, has published her first book, 'Actually, I Can: Growing Up with Type 1 Diabetes, A Story of Unexpected Empowerment'. The book, released in June 2020, shares Morgan's personal journey with T1D and her advocacy work with JDRF.
Diagnosed at age 6 in 2007, Morgan has turned her experiences into a story of resilience and empowerment. She encourages others with T1D to embrace life's positives despite the condition's challenges. Her sister Caroline was diagnosed as a teenager in 2017, further fueling Morgan's passion for advocacy.
In her book, Morgan discusses her struggles with the emotional toll of diabetes and offers advice on coping with negative emotions. She also shares her journey with hypothyroidism. The book aims to show children, families, and others that T1D can be viewed as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.
Morgan's father, David Panzirer, heads the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, which has invested over $1 billion in T1D research and advocacy. Morgan's career goal is to become a pediatric endocrinologist to help other families with diabetes. A giveaway for a free copy of her book was held from July 10 to July 17, 2020, with the winner announced on July 20, 2020.
