Unseen companionship prevails. The Mysterious Figure, alias The Invisible Man.

In the heart of Berlin, a residential tower by the river, Damien Bouillon, a freelance graphic designer, finds himself entangled in a series of peculiar events.

Damien's obsession with the strange noises he hears at night has taken a toll on his personal life. His neglect of work and forgetting to pick up his daughter, Chloé, from school are unfortunate consequences of his preoccupation. His wife, Nadia, concerned about Damien's behaviour, has sent him to a psychotherapist.

The family, including Damien, Nadia, and Chloé, live in a stylish apartment in the tower. However, their peaceful dwelling has been disrupted by an eccentric neighbour, a feminist shaman, who performs her rituals loudly from the apartment one floor above.

The family's tranquillity was further disrupted when they were forced to move from Paris due to Nadia's new research position in a small town. Damien is not voluntarily living in this apartment.

Their new home has also been the site of another issue - the apartment's water connection, claimed to be botched by the plumber Bernier, causing the wastewater to run directly into the river.

Meanwhile, Damien's computer keeps crashing, causing damage to his designs. His sleep is affected due to the strange noises he hears at night that no one else seems to notice.

In an unexpected turn of events, Damien believes there is an invisible creature or power trying to possess him. This belief appears to stem from his obsession with the noises he hears at night.

Interestingly, the film "The Invisible Creature," scheduled to be shown on Arte on Friday at 21.45 Uhr (25th July), is a modern adaptation of the 1887 novella "The Horla" by Guy de Maupassant. While the search results do not provide specific information about a film titled "The Invisible Creature" (2022) or its connection to Maupassant's work, it is intriguing to note that "The Horla" tells the story of an invisible being known as the Horla that exerts psychological control over the protagonist.

Director Marion Desseigne-Ravel has cited the pandemic as a significant influence on the film's creation. The film is based on action transferred to the present day. However, without specific details about the film's plot or any official statements from its creators linking it to Maupassant's work, it is not possible to definitively say if "The Invisible Creature" is an adaptation of "The Horla."

As Damien navigates these strange occurrences, one thing is clear - his life has taken an unusual turn, and the future remains uncertain.

  1. Damien's mental health seems to be affected by the strange noises he hears at night, as evidenced by his neglect of work and family-dynamics, such as forgetting to pick up his daughter from school.
  2. To seek help, Damien's wife, Nadia, has sent him to a psychotherapist, showing their concerns about his well-being and lifestyle choices.
  3. The science fiction genre, with films like "The Invisible Creature," which shares similarities with the 1887 novella "The Horla" by Guy de Maupassant, could potentially provide insights into Damien's belief of an invisible creature trying to possess him.
