In a recent community event, volunteers, local authorities, and law enforcement agencies joined forces to tackle the issue of drug advertisements in the Baykonur district of Kazakhstan. The action was part of the ongoing prevention and fight against drug addiction, falling under the comprehensive plan "Astana - a city without drugs" and the eco-campaign "Clean Kazakhstan".

The main objective of the action was to eliminate drug advertisements, particularly graffiti promoting narcotic substances, which are often found in less visible locations. The event was organised annually and saw the participation of volunteers from the "Astana Jastary" Youth Resource Centre, the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Astana Police Department, the district akimat, and the district police department, among others.

Local authorities, including representatives from the city prosecutor's office, were also present to support the initiative. Olzhas AMANGELDY, a specialist from the "Astana Jastary" Youth Resource Centre, made a statement about the action, emphasising the importance of community involvement in the solution of this problem.

Many young people are vulnerable to such advertisements, seeking easy money. This event was a significant step in the prevention and fight against drug addiction, as it aimed to remove these tempting and potentially harmful messages from the district's public spaces. The action will continue until the end of the year, with the hope that the district will become a safer environment for its residents.

While there are no specific records of an ongoing annual campaign in the Baykonur district aimed at removing drug advertisements, this event underscores the commitment of the community and local authorities to address this issue. The event took place within the context of Kazakhstan, reflecting the nation's ongoing efforts to combat drug addiction and promote a healthy lifestyle for its citizens.

  1. In an effort to promote health-and-wellness and combat the issue of drug addiction, the "Astana Jastary" Youth Resource Centre has partnered with local authorities and law enforcement agencies for an annual campaign, which includes the removal of drug advertisements, in the Baykonur district of Kazakhstan, under the eco-campaign "Clean Kazakhstan".
  2. Science and fitness-and-exercise could play a significant role in combating drug addiction, as shown by the event's aim to remove tempting and potentially harmful messages, replacing them with positive, healthy messages that could inspire young people and divert them from seeking easy money and the dangerous allure of drug advertisements.
