Since 1987, the name Martin Blecker has been synonymous with premium hearing and vision care in Hannover. "The customer is king," was the philosophy of Angelika Figeis-Blecker and Martin Blecker from day one. After opening their first shop on Herrenhauser Straße 64, their customer-friendly, attentive service quickly spread throughout Hannover and beyond. In 2014, they moved to their current locations on Königstraße 4. Since the passing of Martin Blecker in July 2021, Angelika Figeis-Blecker has been running the shops with her team. She continues to delight in the support of numerous loyal customers who treasure the exceptional service.
State-of-the-art measurement techniques, ongoing training, and a keen sense for detail ensure results that delight customers. "Good hearing enables active participation in life and is simply a bonus!" Angelika Figeis-Blecker knows. Matthias Brodowy is well aware of this value as a cabaret artist. "As a cabaret performer, I rely on the audience hearing me well and understanding my words. My shows are not characterized by anything visually exciting; there's no dancing like a flamingo across the stage or spectacular pyrotechnics. Instead, the middle tones are crucial. Precise listening is essential, and that understanding is essential for appreciating the message being conveyed. I've become painfully aware of this, as I once had a performance translated for the first time by a sign language interpreter. I also know that frustrating experiences can occur with hearing problems, like during a theater performance."
Matthias Brodowy is particularly knowledgeable about acoustic issues in large spaces—a challenge for hearing aid acousticians. "Don't be alarmed! It's about to get a bit quiet," says Niels Rocker, as he squirts the cool silicone goo into one ear, then the other. The long-time employee at Martin Blecker Hörakustik & Augenoptik is familiar with this moment. Sounds that were initially quite clear suddenly fade as the world seems to be put on mute. "It takes three minutes for the silicone to harden and can be removed again." The molding is the first step toward a custom earplug, available in sculpted titan and suitable for diverse applications. Musician and concertgoers, motorcyclists, those with loud workplaces, DIY enthusiasts, hunters, and hunter safety equipment users, but also frequent flyers and travelers seeking a quieter experience are among the satisfied customers. Earplugs are also suitable for equalizing pressure during diving activities. "Our earplugs work differently from most others, as they rely on shaping rather than pressure. As a result, they fit comfortably and the sound quality is significantly better compared to simply stuffing something in your ear." And it's noticeable: when the custom-fit earplugs are worn for the first time after about two weeks, the new auditory experience is truly remarkable. Background noises are softer but not entirely gone; harsh, loud sounds are softened, and it is easier to concentrate.
Apart from hearing aids and earplugs, eye care plays an essential role at Martin Blecker Hörakustik & Augenoptik. In the optometry department, the focus is on proportion. Custom-designed glasses, tailored to the customer's color and shape preferences, cast the "perfect I" across countless faces.
