Uncovered a Beginner-Friendly HIIT Routine: 25-Minute Workout, Zero Repeated Exercises, and Gentle on Your Joints

Title: Jump into Fitness: A Friendly Beginner's Guide to High-Intensity Interval Training

Start your fitness journey with a smile, folks! If you're a newbie and feeling a bit worried about the term "high intensity," worry not! Fitness sensation Anna Engelschall has a HIIT workout on YouTube that'll serve as a perfect introduction to this workout style.

Most of the moves in this 25-minute routine are accessible, making it an awesome starting point even for beginners. Better yet, there's no repeating of the exercises you dread the most – sing a happy song as you conquer each one!

Curious about trying it? All you'll need for a comfortable workout is an exercise mat. As a personal trainer, I had to tone down my usual HIIT sessions due to pregnancy, so I decided to give Engelschall's workout a shot.

How to Slay the 25-minute Beginner HIIT Workout

Engelschall gets the party started with a speedy warm-up that features mobility drills for 30 seconds each.

The main workout consists of 18 exercises, like deadbug, pop squat, and butt kicks, performed for 50 seconds each and followed by a 10-second rest. Don't fret – you can always customize your brief break time if needed. Pause the video if you need an extra breath!

At the end, Engelschall wraps things up with a three-minute cool-down, featuring stretches for the quads, hamstrings, and lower back.

My Take on the Workout

It Offered Long Intervals with Short Breaks

Traditionally, HIIT workouts consist of 30 or 40-second exercise intervals. Performing each exercise for almost a minute can be intense, especially when you only get 10 seconds to rest.

However, the lack of repeated moves kept me motivated. Knowing I wouldn't be repeating my least favorite exercises bolstered my determination, and I finished each interval strong.

Occasionally, I needed more than 10 seconds to breathe, so I took advantage of the pause button!

The Pace was Manageable

Although the exercise periods were lengthy, Engelschall kept the pace steady, making the workout more approachable. Slowing down her pace helped maintain my energy levels and allowed me to focus on good form even when feeling fatigued.

This moderate tempo means the workout truly earns its 'beginner-friendly' name. It also allows beginners to pay attention to learning the movements properly, making the session accessible to a broad range of fitness levels.

It's Easy on the Joints

Another beginner-friendly facet of this workout was the mix of low-impact exercises. Although there were jumping moves like skaters, jumping jacks, and, of course, burpees, the majority of the workout was gentle on the joints. Bonus points to Engelschall for making higher-impact moves easily modifiable!

Pregnant or have joint issues? Going easy on the core exercises and modifying a few moves due to neck or back pain won't ruin the experience. Simply place one hand behind your head for extra neck support if needed.

Trust me; this workout is a fantastic stepping stone into the thrilling world of HIIT training!
