Tulsa State Fair Food Safety in Expert Hands

The Tulsa State Fair, a haven for food enthusiasts with its 200 diverse culinary booths, is in safe hands. The Tulsa County Health Department (THD) is on duty, ensuring food safety through rigorous inspections and vendor education.

THD will dedicate around 650 hours and conduct approximately 600 inspections during the fair. This commitment reflects their responsibility for food safety at such events, as mandated by state regulations.

The department educates vendors on crucial aspects of safe food handling. This includes teaching proper handwashing techniques, a vital step in preventing foodborne illnesses. By doing so, THD aims to maintain the high standards of food safety that Tulsa County is known for.

In the past two years, THD has conducted over 14,410 inspections across the county's 5,048 retail food establishments. This proactive approach helps maintain the safety of Tulsa's food scene, with THD's stickers on inspected food booths serving as a visible sign of compliance with food safety standards.

The Tulsa State Fair, with its array of culinary delights, is set to welcome visitors with confidence in its food safety measures. THD's dedicated efforts, including inspections and vendor education, ensure that the fair remains a joyful and safe experience for all.
