In Astana, Kazakhstan, the "Astana - City Without Drugs" initiative is making strides in promoting a drug-free lifestyle and supporting those battling addiction. This campaign, which gained public support during events like the World Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, offers a community-focused approach that combines awareness and active, healthy lifestyles as an alternative to drug use.

At the heart of this effort is a series of free fitness training sessions led by renowned fitness trainer, Vasily Takhtay. These sessions, designed to engage the community in physical activity, are held in various locations across Astana, including schools, parks, sports clubs, and fitness gyms. This year, the sessions will also be held in "Koktal" park and "Triathlon" park.

The sessions are typically scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate more participants. However, this year, they will also take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until September 1. The specific times for these sessions are 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Vasily Takhtay, who has been conducting these training sessions annually for the past three years, emphasizes the project's aim to help participants avoid harmful habits during the summer and allow schoolchildren and youth to spend their free time productively.

The initiative extends its welcome to all, regardless of age or any limitations. Men, women, and children aged 6 and above are encouraged to join. Individuals with disabilities are also welcome to participate.

For more detailed and up-to-date information about the venues and exact schedule of the sessions, you can follow related announcements or official pages associated with the campaign or Vasily Takhtay on social media platforms such as Instagram.

Notably, the opening ceremony of this year's sessions was attended by Deputy Director of the Directorate for Sports and Mass Events of Astana's Akimat, Yerzhigit Osherbay, and featured a performance by champion of the "Strongman" competition, Kuanyush Sharipbekuly, who demonstrated his skills, including bending iron and nails.

With the success of last year's project, which had around 500 registrations, the "Astana - City Without Drugs" campaign continues to offer a promising approach to combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle in Astana.

  1. Science and fitness-and-exercise are integral parts of the "Astana - City Without Drugs" initiative as renowned fitness trainer, Vasily Takhtay, leads free fitness training sessions in Astana, promoting physical activity as an alternative to drug use.
  2. In addition to health-and-wellness and fitness-and-exercise, the campaign also encourages sports participation, with this year's training sessions happening in "Koktal" park and "Triathlon" park, inviting people of all ages and abilities to join, including individuals with disabilities.
