Thriving Fundraising Efforts Spotted in New Tecumseth

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation's Because of YOU campaign is making significant strides in its mission to raise $80 million for the modernization and expansion of the hospital, serving over 100,000 residents in South Simcoe.

The upcoming facility promises to significantly enhance healthcare services for the community, with key upgrades including a tripled Emergency Department, new private inpatient rooms, labor and delivery rooms, upgraded surgical services, and the hospital’s first MRI suite.

As of July 2025, the campaign is actively progressing, thanks to strong community involvement and ongoing fundraising efforts. Notably, McDonald's in Alliston and Angus, operated by MacKinnon Restaurants, has contributed a total of $200,000 to the campaign. This includes $27,500 raised during McHappy Day events in May 2025 and an additional $14,000 during the campaign relaunch event.

Rory MacKinnon, owner/operator of McDonald's in Alliston and Angus, expressed pride in being part of a community that values and supports the local hospital. "We are proud to be part of a community that understands the importance of a modern hospital for our families, neighbours, and loved ones," MacKinnon said.

The funds raised during events like McHappy Day make a real difference in providing the best possible care for the community. The contributions from these McDonald's locations play a significant role in supporting the campaign’s momentum and advancing the hospital redevelopment project.

Frank Cerisano, CEO of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for this support, emphasizing its importance in reaching the $80 million goal so that patients continue to receive high-quality care now and in the future.

With this ongoing support, the Stevenson Memorial Hospital is positioned for a transformation that supports families for generations to come. The hospital expansion will provide expanded emergency care, modern inpatient facilities, and advanced diagnostic imaging closer to home.
