Most recognized for her role in the Euphoria series, Sweeney steps into the formidable shoes of the celebrated female boxer Christy Martin in the latter's biopic.

Last year, the actress shared a few powerfully posed photos, clearly showcasing her bulked-up physique as she flaunted her muscles.

In an exclusive sit-down with the latest W Magazine cover story, Sweeney reveals her demanding workout routine and the journey to acquire over 30 pounds to embody the boxer's bulky build.

"I signed on to play Christy, and I had roughly three and a half months of training. I began consuming extra calories. I took an hour for weightlifting in the morning, two hours for kickboxing at midday, and another hour for weightlifting at night," Sweeney shared with W Magazine.

According to Variety, Sweeney bulked up by more than 30 pounds for the part.

Reflecting on her body's radical makeover for the film, the actress expressed, "My body was alien. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes. I'm typically a size 23 in jeans, yet I was donning a size 27.... It was unbelievable! I was astounded: I was so solid, insanely sturdy."

The yet-to-be-named sports biopic is helmed by David Michod, who co-wrote the script alongside Mirrah Foulkes.

The film traces the rags-to-riches story of the boxing sensation's meteoric rise to become the most prominent female boxer in America during the 1990s.

As per reports, Martin boxed professionally from 1989 to 2012 and claimed the world champion title in the super welterweight division in 2009.

In 2010, she narrowly escaped a murder attempt by her husband, James Martin. He stabbed her multiple times and shot her at their Florida home. He was eventually convicted of attempted second-degree murder in 2012 and received a 25-year prison sentence.
