Yield: Approximately 9 browniesDifficulty: Fairly ChallengingEstimated Time: Around 1 hour (20 minutes active)

Ingredients (14)

  • 4 oz Philly cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Nutella
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line an 8x8 baking pan using cooking spray and parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. With a handheld mixer, cream the butter, sugar, and 1 tablespoon flour.
  3. Add the cream cheese and keep mixing until it becomes smooth.
  4. Scrape the bowl and add an egg. Beat until you get a creamy texture. Again, scrape the bowl. Now, dump in Nutella and mix for about 1 minute or until it's thoroughly combined.
  5. Set the topping aside and onto the brownie batter. Sift 3/4 cup flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder into a medium bowl.
  6. In a small bowl, cream 1/2 stick softened butter. Add the eggs one at a time followed by the vanilla extract. Mix well.
  7. Fold this egg, sugar, butter, and vanilla mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients.
  8. Don't panic if it seems like there isn't enough brownie batter, trust me bucko, there is.
  9. Spread 3/4 of the brownie batter in the bottom of your prepared pan. Spreading the thick brownie batter can be a pain, so go ahead and spray your spatula with cooking spray!
  10. Spread 3/4 of the cream cheese topping over the brownie batter. Dollop the remaining brownie batter and cream cheese topping randomly on top of the pan.
  11. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to swirl the layers together.
  12. Bake for 40-50 minutes. If you like gooey brownies, bake for 40 minutes. Prefer something denser, bake for 50 minutes.
  13. Dig in and enjoy!
