Here Comes Summer Fun! 🌞💦

Get ready to dive into the exciting world of swimming this summer! With the nationwide swimming badge days happening from June 14 to 22, it's the perfect time to brush up on your skills and enjoy all the water activities that await you.

Did you know that Kamp-Lintfort is jumping into the action? The local German Life Saving Association (DLRG) has a fantastic opportunity for you! On June 14, head over to the Panoramabad Pappelsee between 10 am and 4 pm for a free swimming check. Show off your skills, earn a shiny German swimming badge – Bronze, Silver, or Gold, and even get a chance to become a 'Seepferdchen' by participating in tests designed for beginners.

Sven Kattelans, chairman of the Moers-Rheinkamp branch, shares a significant concern: "By the end of primary school, most children still can't swim safely. This needs to change." The DLRG emphasizes the importance of voluntary swimming education in clubs to ensure safety and enjoyment in water activities.

So, what exactly makes you a safe swimmer? You're considered a safe swimmer once you successfully complete the Bronze swimming badge test, also known as the 'Freischwimmer.' The requirements may vary depending on the organization issuing the badge, but generally speaking, you'll need to demonstrate good swimming skills and safety knowledge. This might involve covering a minimum distance, showcasing various swimming strokes, and demonstrating basic water safety and rescue techniques.

Last year, over 16,000 badges were awarded during the second nationwide swimming badge days, and this year, the aim is to exceed that number. But remember, what truly matters is that many people engage with the topic of swimming safety and test their own skills in the water. So, let's make a splash this summer and have a safe, fun-filled season! 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️🎉

Embrace a well-rounded summer by combining health-and-wellness with sports, fitness-and-exercise. Science reveals that swimming not only improves cardiovascular health but also enhances muscle strength and flexibility. So, whether you aim to conquer the Freischwimmer test or desire to excel in fitness and sports, make this season an exciting journey of self-improvement and safety.
