Smoke Alarm Saves Life in Hombruch Fire

A smoke alarm saved lives in Hombruch early on the morning of 11/03/2024. The device alerted neighbors who then called the fire department. The resident was found unconscious due to a medical emergency, and burnt food had started a small fire in the apartment.

Dirk Aschenbrenner, Director of the Dortmund Fire Department, led the response. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the resident unconscious. They quickly extinguished the burning food and ventilated the apartment to clear smoke. The resident's dog was also rescued and cared for by neighbors.

The fire department handed over the rescued resident to emergency services for further medical attention. Smoke alarms played a crucial role in this incident, alerting neighbors and enabling a swift response from the fire department.

Thanks to the smoke alarm and the prompt actions of neighbors and the fire department, the resident and their dog were rescued safely. The fire was quickly extinguished, preventing any further damage. This incident highlights the importance of smoke alarms and the quick response of emergency services in saving lives.
