Herford District Embraces Creativity for Mobility Week
The Mobility Management of the Herford district is encouraging kindergartens to participate in this year's Mobility Week, an initiative aimed at promoting safe and eco-friendly travel for young children.
Sabine Höner zu Siederdissen, from the Mobility Management of the district, is particularly keen on fostering creativity in the actions kindergartens undertake during Mobility Week. She is delighted with every additional facility that joins in the activities.
One of the key actions this year is the "Walk to Kindergarten" initiative, which aims to make everyday journeys by car less common for children. As part of this action, around 1,500 bright yellow signal warning vests will be distributed to all 3-year-olds in the over 130 kindergartens in the Herford district. These vests, delivered to the town halls of the cities and municipalities for collection by the kindergartens, make children highly visible and contribute to traffic safety.
The vests also carry the district's climate protection logo, emphasising the initiative's role in supporting climate protection. The vests are intended to be worn by children when they are walking to kindergarten, and the City Traffic Herford GmbH has distributed them as part of the activities supporting safe mobility for young children.
The Mobility Management of the district is open to advising kindergartens on potential actions for Mobility Week. The district does not set limits on the creativity of the actions kindergartens can undertake for Mobility Week.
Every action undertaken by kindergartens during Mobility Week, with the assistance of the Mobility Management of the district, promotes the independence and safety of children in road traffic. The district is delighted with every kindergarten that participates in Mobility Week actions and is open to receiving emails and phone calls from kindergartens regarding Mobility Week actions.
The glow warning vest action has been a part of the Herford district's participation in the European Mobility Week since 2017.
