IKEA's Swedish Meatballs

Serves: 4-6

INGREDIENTS

MEATBALL MIXTURE- 1 pound ground beef- 1/2 pound ground pork- 1 chopped onion- 1 minced clove of garlic- 3.5 ounces breadcrumbs- 1 beaten egg- 5 tablespoons milk- Salt and pepper to taste

SAUCE- Dash of oil- 1.4 ounces butter- 1.4 ounces all-purpose flour- 5 ounces vegetable stock- 5 ounces beef broth- 5 ounces heavy cream- 2 teaspoons soy sauce- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

INSTRUCTIONS

MEATBALL MIXTURE1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef and pork until smooth.2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix again, but be gentle so your meatballs don't get tough.3. Shape the mixture into small balls and let 'em chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours. This helps them keep their shape while cookin'.4. Brown those beauties in a skillet for 8-10 minutes, or until they're golden all over.5. Pop 'em into an oven-safe dish and cover 'em tightly with foil. Cook for an additional 30 minutes in an oven heatin' at 350 degrees.

SAUCE6. In the same skillet, melt 1.4 ounces of butter, add the flour and cook for 2 minutes while stirrin'.7. Gradually pour in the veggie and beef broths, then the heavy cream, and whisk everything until it's nice and smooth.8. Add the soy sauce and mustard, then bring the sauce to a simmer and let it thicken up for a couple of minutes.9. When ready to serve, drizzle your sauce over your freshly baked meatballs.

Serve 'em up with some hot, buttery mashed potatoes, or twirl 'em onto a dish of egg noodles, or just grab 'em by toothpick and watch your favorite series on Netflix. Happy meatballin'!
