On July 8, 2025, the town of Meerbusch will play host to an inspiring event titled "Space for Women". This free event, taking place at Frohnhofstraße 12 in Lank-Latum, is open to women from the surrounding areas and welcomes men to participate, as the event aims to provide a change of perspective by giving women a platform.

The event will kick off with a speech from Sarah Philipp, Co-State Chairwoman of the NRWSPD, on "Women in top politics". Following this, Nicole Niederdellman-Siemes, mayoral candidate for Meerbusch, will speak about the importance of women in local politics, believing that they shape politics with a unique perspective, close to everyday life, solution-oriented, and with a clear moral compass.

The event will feature a series of "pitches" from high-ranking female guests, presenting perspectives on topics like equality, social cohesion, violence against women, intersectional feminism, and women in the workplace. Among the speakers will be Mara Troeger, a Meerbusch photographer, who will present the SPD's candidate posters at the event, serving as a visual sign for the campaign "We are all Meerbusch".

Clara Krum, a musician from Neuss, will also be in attendance, discussing her experiences as a woman in the male-dominated rock scene and her journey as a freelance musician. Topics of discussion for Clara Krum will include challenges faced as a woman, self-employment, gender roles, and the balancing act between career and family.

In addition to the speakers, the event will feature women experts from art, culture, politics, economics, and social sectors. Dr. Mike Kunze, chairman of the Historical Society of Meerbusch, will be the only male speaker, discussing Hildegundis of Meer.

The event will culminate with a live performance by Clara Krum, promising an evening of music and inspiration. For those interested in participating with a pitch or making other requests, please contact [email protected] by email.

It's an exciting opportunity for women to come together, learn, and share experiences, and for men to gain a new perspective on the role of women in various sectors. Nicole Niederdellman-Siemes looks forward to an open exchange with interested citizens, especially young women considering a path into local politics.
