In the city of Bochum, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Friday, September 12, causing a stir. The incident took place at around 4 pm on Sommerfeldstraße in Bochum-Wattenscheid, and involved a 40-year-old man from Hattingen and a 16-year-old local resident.

The older man, driving a vehicle, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed a reading of 2.52 percent alcohol consumption. The driver was subsequently taken to the hospital to receive medical attention for minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old was riding an e-scooter and was also involved in the accident. A doctor took blood samples from both individuals for further analysis. The breathalyzer test for the 16-year-old showed a reading of 2.62 percent, though it's important to note that the legal driving limit for alcohol in Germany is 0.5 percent.

The second accident involved a collision with a parked car. The driver veered off the road and hit the sidewalk, causing damage to the vehicle and the surrounding area. The second accident occurred separately on Lewackerstraße in Bochum-Linden.

The traffic commission has initiated an investigation into both incidents. For further inquiries, contact the Bochum Police Press Office (contact details provided).

Both the driver and the 16-year-old were taken to the hospital for treatment. We hope for their swift recovery. It's a reminder to always prioritise safety on our roads, especially when under the influence of alcohol.
