Officers in Action
In a sobering development, Rhein-Kreis Neuss has reported its first fatality due to the coronavirus. An 88-year-old woman from Neuss passed away on 20th March 2020, marking a tragic milestone for the district. However, the identity of the deceased individual remains undisclosed.
As of now, there are 95 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The distribution of these cases across the district is as follows: 22 in Meerbusch, 16 in Grevenbroich, 16 in Dormagen, 15 in Neuss, 13 in Kaarst, 7 in Korschenbroich, and 3 in each Jüchen and Rommerskirchen.
County Commissioner Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke has renewed his call for the public to strictly adhere to the established guidelines to prevent a coronavirus catastrophe. In a recent appeal, he emphasised the importance of individual actions in this collective fight against the virus.
To enforce these guidelines, the city's public order office will increase monitoring this weekend. Enforcement officers will intervene in gatherings of more than three to four people, crowds, or queues. Particular focus will be on gatherings in playgrounds and public spaces. Checks will be conducted in the city center and all districts until late in the evening.
Businesses that are supposed to remain closed but are found open will face penalties. The public is reminded to maintain recommended distancing guidelines, with non-compliance set to be reiterated.
There is some positive news, with 326 people having been released from quarantine after showing no symptoms. Additionally, two people have recovered from the infection across the district.
Currently, 955 people are in quarantine as suspected cases, as recommended by the district health department. The authorities urge everyone to remain vigilant and follow the guidelines to help contain the spread of the virus.
