Mystery Smell at School Leaves 18 Sick, Source Still Unknown
Around 18 children and teachers at a school in Gronau experienced respiratory irritation, nausea, and headaches after an unknown smell filled the premises. The incident occurred at the sports hall on Laubstiege and was eventually ended in the afternoon.
The fire department was first alerted to the situation and swiftly responded, with around 70 firefighters, emergency services, police officers, and two technical advisors from the THW arriving at the scene. They worked together to investigate the source of the smell and ventilate the building.
Despite their efforts, no measurable pollutants were detected, and the source of the smell could not be identified. The police have since started investigations into the possible cause, but as of now, no specific details about the involved officers or their findings have been made public.
The incident was successfully resolved in the afternoon, with the affected individuals receiving medical attention. Although the source of the smell remains unknown, authorities continue to investigate the matter to ensure the safety of those in the building.
