Leatherman Issues Voluntary Recall for Charge Plus and Charge Plus TTi Multi-Tools

Leatherman, a well-known brand of multi-tools, has announced a voluntary recall for their Charge Plus and Charge Plus TTi multi-tools. The recall is due to a design flaw that poses a risk of injury to users.

The recall affects multi-tools sold between July 2024 and March 2025. If you own either of these products, you should visit Leatherman's recall page at leatherman.com/pages/charge-recall to determine if it requires recall.

Both the Charge Plus and Charge Plus TTi multi-tools have the brand name "Leatherman" etched on them. The Charge Plus multi-tools are available in black and stainless steel colors, while the Charge Plus TTi multi-tools are stainless steel. The Charge Plus TTi multi-tools come with a black nylon sheath, and the Charge Plus multi-tools come with a black MOLLE or black nylon sheath.

These tools were sold at stores like REI, hardware and cutlery stores nationwide, and online through Leatherman.com, Amazon, and REI.com for $150–$200. Approximately 17,000 units are involved in the recall.

If your tool is affected, immediately stop using it due to a laceration hazard where the knife blade tip does not fully fold into the handle. You do not need to provide proof of purchase to participate in the recall. Leatherman will provide a pre-paid shipping label for you to send the recalled multi-tool back for a free repair.

The repair process involves fixing the blade so it safely folds into the handle. Leatherman states that the flaw only affects a small portion of units. No reports of injuries from the flaw have been reported so far.

If your multi-tool is affected, you will receive a pre-paid shipping label to return the multi-tool to Leatherman for free repair. Once the repair is complete, Leatherman will return your tool to you.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an alert for this voluntary recall. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Leatherman's customer service at 1-800-847-3648 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday.
