Mettmann District Marks Pinktober With Awareness Events
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, or 'Pinktober', and the district of Mettmann is hosting a series of events to raise awareness, encourage conversation, and promote early detection. The central action day takes place on Saturday, October 25th, in Hilden, with a guided hike organized by the Sauerländischer Gebirgsverein.
The Pinktober program in Mettmann, organized by the district's gender equality officers, includes various events across the cities of Mettmann, Hilden, Wülfrath, and Langenfeld. The aim is to strengthen participants, answer questions, and highlight the importance of early detection and prevention.
The central action day in Hilden starts with a guided hike, ending at the breast center in St. Josefs Hospital. Here, an open door day will offer information, exchange, and encounter opportunities around breast cancer. Visitors will be welcomed by the mayor of Hilden, equal opportunities officers, and the chief physician of the breast center. The event also includes expert lectures, creative participatory actions, and a walk in the Hilden city forest.
Cancer can affect both women and men, and early diagnostics can significantly improve recovery chances. The district of Mettmann's equal opportunities officers are hosting this joint action series from October 2nd to 29th to foster openness, solidarity, and courage in dealing with cancer.
Further information and the detailed program can be found on the Kreis Mettmann website and the websites of participating cities. The Pinktober program in Mettmann aims to create awareness and encourage conversation about cancer, ultimately promoting early detection and prevention.
