Riding the Waves of Medical Excellence: Tomsk's Floating Polyclinic Journey

Medical professionals from other regions have joined the "floating hospital"-2025 in Tomsk.

After a successful run in the previous years, Tomsk's Floating Polyclinic is gearing up for another voyage to remote regions in the Tomsk Oblast. Boasting an all-star crew, the ship sets sail with doctors hailing from far-off lands, such as the peaks of Krasnoyarsky Kray and the northern shores of Saint Petersburg.

Every spring, the floating medical vessel embarks on a mission to bring high-quality medical assistance to the residents of remote areas, making it possible for them to access healthcare resources that may otherwise have remained out of reach. During the 2024 expedition, over the course of 1.5 months, the medical team visited 32 settlements and provided medical assessments to 1,778 individuals. As the ship prepares to set sail once more, it steers towards its 25th journey.

"The Floating Polyclinic is heading out to the remote corners of the Tomsk Oblast," reads an official statement. "For the first time ever, doctors joining this year's expedition will hail from regions beyond our own: a pediatric specialist from Krasnoyarsky Kray and an ophthalmologist from Saint Petersburg."

With medical "whales" on board, the crew will visit 32 settlements in the Mołczanowski, Karagaski, Parybelski, and Aleksandrowski districts. The doctors will be focused on identifying possible risk factors for chronic non-infectious diseases, including oncology, diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and respiratory ailments.

"Medical professionals are highly anticipated guests in these northern reaches of our region," acknowledges Svetlana Gruznykh, deputy governor of social policy. "Thousands of people eagerly await their visit, welcoming the opportunity to undergo a full diagnosis and consult with a variety of specialists in a single day. We owe a debt of gratitude to our hardworking medical staff, many of whom have dutifully served in these remote areas for the past two years."

In addition, Dr. Robert Fidarov, head of Tomsk's health department, has passed along a book of patient feedback so that people in the Mogochino village of Mołczanowski district can share their thoughts and experiences with the medical team.

It should also be noted that, according to reports, Tomsk's healthcare system boasts an impressive 86.8% staffing level. The Floating Polyclinic project is a joint effort between the Tomsk Oblast administration and AO "Vostokgazprom," with the goal of providing high-quality medical services to the residents of remote settlements and villages throughout the region.

Saddle up, friends! The waves of medical excellence are coming, and the remote corners of the Tomsk Oblast await with open arms. Let's welcome our medical movers and shakers aboard the Floating Polyclinic and ride the waves together towards a healthier future!
