Medical facilities in Almaty have recently been updated with advanced machinery

Almaty, Kazakhstan - A significant step forward in medical technology has been taken with the installation of a new 128-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scanner at City Clinical Hospital No.4. The Hitachi Supria MDCT scanner is expected to improve diagnostic efficiency and speed in cardiac and related imaging procedures, marking a significant addition to the ongoing modernization of Almaty's medical institutions' equipment.

The city of Almaty is currently undergoing a three-year program to upgrade its medical institutions' equipment, initiated by Almaty's Akim, Bakytzhan Sagintayev. As part of this program, 47 X-ray machines and 52 ultrasound machines have been supplied to Almaty's medical organizations.

The new MDCT scanner at City Clinical Hospital No.4 is not mentioned to have been purchased with the previously allocated funds, suggesting it may be a separate investment or part of the ongoing program. In 2020, 43.1 billion tenge was allocated from the local budget for the improvement of Almaty's medical organizations' material and technical equipment.

The scan time for one anatomical area on a 128-slice machine is significantly faster than on a 16-slice machine. Scan times range from 8 to 320 seconds, which is 8 times faster compared to a 16-slice machine, where scan times range from 12 to 35 seconds. This speedier scanning process will undoubtedly contribute to increased efficiency in patient diagnosis and treatment.

The new MDCT scanner boasts advanced capabilities, such as the ability to scan the heart and coronary arteries to assess their patency in the presence of atherosclerotic plaques. This will enable healthcare professionals to make more accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans for patients with heart conditions.

The impact of the medical equipment modernization program in Almaty's clinics is yet to be fully realised, but improvements in healthcare outcomes, increased efficiency in patient diagnosis and treatment, and enhanced patient satisfaction are expected. To determine the current status of the program, one would need to look for updates from official sources, such as press releases or reports from the local health department or government.

The new 128-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scanner, installed at City Clinical Hospital No.4, is a part of Almaty's three-year program for upgrading medical institutions' equipment, aiming to enhance health-and-wellness by providing state-of-the-art science and medical-conditions diagnostics and therapies-and-treatments. The advanced capabilities of this scanner, including its speedier scanning process and assessment of heart conditions, will undoubtedly contribute to increased patient satisfaction and improved healthcare outcomes.
