Elmer August Manson Jr., a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away on August 6, 2025, at his home in Manchester, Iowa, surrounded by his family. He was 91 years old.
Born on August 17, 1933, in Oneida, Iowa, Elmer was the only surviving sibling of his parents, having lost his brothers Leonard, Harold, and Kenneth before him. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1950 at the age of 17, and three years later, he enlisted in the United States Army.
After his military service, Elmer returned to Iowa and married Doris Ann McQuillen on October 14, 1953, at St. Mary's in Manchester, Iowa. The couple went on to have four daughters: Cindy, Julie, Jane, and René. Elmer retired from farming in 1993 and moved to Manchester with his wife, Doris.
Visitation for Elmer will be held before the Mass of Christian Burial on August 12, 2025, from 8:45 - 10:45 am. The Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa, at 11:00 am. The service will be live-streamed at http://blessedtrinitycluster.com. Cremation has already taken place.
Elmer's family and friends will deeply miss his kindness, wisdom, and the love he shared with everyone. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
