LIT's T-Cell Fitness Group Secures $75K G-Rex Grant for TSCM Manufacturing
LIT's 'T-Cell Fitness' group, led by Dr. Dr. Roland Schelker, has secured a $75,000 G-Rex grant from ScaleReady LLC. The funding will support 18 months of preclinical research focused on optimizing and simplifying the manufacturing of T-memory stem cells (TSCM). TSCM are a unique type of animal cell that bolsters the immune system's response to infections and diseases. Several LIT research projects are exploring their potential in treating various conditions, thanks to their superior anti-tumor efficacy and long-term survival in vivo. The research group aims to use a G-Rex bioreactor to multiply TSCM, facilitating their use in multiple LIT projects. Pedro Noronha, a research technician in the LIT department for functional immune cell modulation, played a significant role in securing the funding. The grant is part of ScaleReady's USD 20 million program, designed to support large-scale manufacturing initiatives. Over the next 18 months, Dr. Dr. Roland Schelker's team will generate preclinical data to enhance TSCM manufacturing processes. This work is expected to advance LIT's research into TSCM's therapeutic potential and contribute to the broader field of animal cell therapies.
