KNPC secures multiple RoSPA accolades in 2025 for exceptional achievements in workplace health and safety

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has once again been honoured with the prestigious RoSPA Award, marking the 20th consecutive year that the company has maintained an outstanding safety record.

The Mina Abdullah Refinery, one of KNPC's key operational sites, was the recipient of the RoSPA Medal of Excellence. This recognition is a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to workplace health and safety.

KNPC's Deputy CEO for Support Services, Kholoud Al-Mutairi, praised the achievement, expressing appreciation for the employees' dedication and the driving force they represent behind KNPC's success. Al-Mutairi also highlighted KNPC's adaptability and continuous improvement in line with global standards.

The RoSPA Award not only boosts KNPC's performance during audits, evaluations, and reviews but also reflects the hard work and dedication of its employees. This year, several KNPC departments also received individual recognitions. The Local Marketing Department secured the Gold Medal for the eighth consecutive year, while the Main Building and Projects Department earned the Gold Medal classification for the ninth consecutive year. The Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery also received the Gold Award classification.

The RoSPA Award is a prestigious international recognition for organisations with outstanding safety records. It recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in workplace health and safety management systems. Safety is considered a core cultural value in KNPC's 2040 strategic vision.

While the specific key factors behind KNPC's excellence in occupational health and safety are not yet detailed, similar regional companies recognised for safety and health excellence, such as Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), have demonstrated a sustained focus on a proactive safety culture, comprehensive safety campaigns and training, measurement and achievement of safety milestones, adoption of international standards and certifications, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.

These factors likely illustrate similar pillars that contribute to KNPC's consistent occupational health and safety performance leading to a RoSPA Award in 2025. The awards serve as a motivation for KNPC to continue setting high standards in safety and health management, ensuring the wellbeing of its workforce and the success of its operations.

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC)'s unwavering commitment to workplace health and safety extends beyond occupational health, as evidenced by the Local Marketing Department's consecutive Gold Medal win in health-and-wellness initiatives for eight years. Furthermore, the Mina Abdullah Refinery's RoSPA Medal of Excellence not only acknowledges KNPC's exceptional safety record but also its focus on promoting science and health-and-wellness in the workplace.
