Ice cream manufacturer Friendly's issues recall due to undisclosed allergen in their products
Friendly's Ice Cream has announced a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of their 48 fluid ounce Cookies & Cream ice cream due to undeclared soy and wheat allergens. The recall was issued in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after it was discovered that Cookies & Cream ice cream was mistakenly packaged in Vanilla Bean cartons with a Cookies & Cream lid.

The labeling mix-up was detected internally, and no other Friendly's products are affected by this recall. The best-by date of the affected product remains 11/26/25. The recall of 48 fl. oz. Friendly's Cookies & Cream ice cream was expanded to include cartons mistakenly labeled as Vanilla Bean.
Consumers who have purchased 48 fl. oz. Friendly's Vanilla Bean ice cream containers with a Cookies & Cream lid can return it to their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with allergies or severe sensitivities to soy and/or wheat are advised not to consume the recalled product due to the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.
The affected product was distributed via UNFI to retail stores in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The expanded recall does not identify the soy and wheat ingredients present in the affected product. The recall is voluntary and only applies to the specific 324 cartons of Cookies & Cream ice cream.
