😃) St. Nick's Surprise Day🎄: Hospitalized children who find themselves far from home due to their ailments often miss out on the joy and excitement of St. Nicholas Day, but not this year! The high-angle rescue unit of the Düsseldorf fire department is making sure these little heroes have an unforgettable experience. This is the second year that they've particpated in this heartwarming event, collaborating with the Florence-Nightingale Hospital of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie, the Evangelical Hospital Düsseldorf, and the University Hospital Düsseldorf.
🌟An Emotional Touch💚: The firefighters and rescue personnel involved in this mission aren't just there for the thrill; many of them are parents themselves. "It was a no-brainer for us to participate again this year," says Jörg Möllendick, deputy watch commander of fire and rescue station 3 on Münster Street, and a certified high-angle rescuer. "The smiles on the children's faces are all the motivation we need."
🎅🕺Superheroes and Gifts🎁: Dressed like their favorite comic book heroes - Santa Claus, Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and Flash - the firefighters gave the children more than just a St. Nicholas visit. They demonstrated their acrobatic skills, with Spider-Man abseiling headfirst and Superman flying by the window. As if that wasn't enough, Santa had a bag full of goodies for each child!
🌍A Nationwide Effort🌐: This wonderful tradition didn't stop at Düsseldorf, with over 50 fire departments from all over Germany, including Cologne, Mannheim, Würzburg, and Flensburg, joining in on the fun! The organizers are already planning to continue this fantastic event "without a doubt" in the coming year.
