Ingolstadt Clinic Receives Re-Certification as a Leading Trauma Center

The Ingolstadt Clinic, located in northern Upper Bavaria, has been re-certified by the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) as a provider of rapid, safe, and high-quality medical care for severely injured patients. This recognition underscores the clinic's status as a trauma center of Region 10.

The certification process for regional trauma centers in Germany is overseen by federal and state health authorities and aligns with European and national guidelines. Trauma centers are classified into different levels, and the Ingolstadt Clinic is likely a tertiary care center, providing the highest level of trauma care with specialized and complex services.

Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Palm, Director of the Center for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, explains that severely injured patients are swiftly seen, examined, and treated by a specialized team at the Ingolstadt Clinic. Efficient time management, extensive diagnostic experience, and an interdisciplinary team of experts are crucial for these patients to avoid long-term damage.

Dr. Andreas Tiete, Medical Director of the Ingolstadt Clinic, stated that the clinic ensures the supply of severely and severely injured patients in the region with a highly qualified team, professional infrastructure, and close cooperation with other clinics and referrers. The clinic maintains this essential supply task for the people of referring hospitals in Region 10 and beyond.

The Ingolstadt Clinic operates within a trauma network, providing 24/7 emergency services and maintaining registries for trauma patient outcomes, consistent with German and European standards. The clinic interfaces effectively with Germany’s EMS system, which uses advanced paramedics and emergency physicians at the scene, ensuring timely trauma care continuation from the field to the hospital.

Traffic and work accidents are the most common causes of severe and severe injuries treated at the Ingolstadt Clinic. The certification body praised the internal treatment pathways and structured interdisciplinary processes at the clinic. Prof. Dr. Martina Nowak-Machen, Director of the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, and Dr. Stephan Steger, Director of the Clinic for Acute and Emergency Medicine, are also part of the team at the Ingolstadt Clinic.

The Ingolstadt Clinic is the only regional trauma center in northern Upper Bavaria, fulfilling a vital role in the region. The re-certification is a testament to the clinic's commitment to providing the highest standard of care for severely injured patients.

In the wake of re-certification, the Ingolstadt Clinic continues to uphold its status as a leading light in health-and-wellness services, specializing in science-based medical care for patients suffering from trauma-related medical-conditions. The clinic's focus on rapid and quality care, in alignment with European and national guidelines, places it among the elite tertiary care centers, offering specialized and complex services.
