Biker4kids Donates Record Amount to AKHD Düsseldorf

Biker4kids, a dedicated group of motorcycle enthusiasts, recently held their annual event at Freizeitpark Langfort in Langenfeld, raising a total of 90,000 euros. A significant portion of this amount, 60,000 euros, was donated to the Ambulant Children and Youth Hospice Service (AKHD) in Düsseldorf, bringing their total contributions to the organisation since 2008 to an impressive 780,000 euros.

The joyful gathering included a grill area, performances by Line-Dancers, and a special guest of honour, Robert Rademacher, the manager of Automeile Hoherweg. The event was also marked by a heartwarming moment as Morena, a beneficiary of the Verein VdFU, personally thanked the Biker4kids for their unwavering support.

The Verein VdFU, founded by the Biker4kids ten years ago, provides essential services to families with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Their support includes dog therapy, transportation, medication, music, activities for siblings, financial aid in times of need, and funeral assistance. The AKHD Düsseldorf, located at Nord Carree 1 in Derendorf, complements these efforts by providing home visits, games, and grief cafés, all free of charge.

The donations were divided into three purposes: AKHD Düsseldorf (60,000 euros), Verein der Freunde und Unterstützer der Kinderhospizarbeit Düsseldorf (25,000 euros), and a special fund (5,000 euros). The special fund can be used to fund expenses beyond Düsseldorf as the VdFU's charter only permits individual support within the city.

Petra Kiwitt, the managing director of the German Children and Youth Hospice Service, expressed her gratitude for the Biker4kids' commitment, praising their ongoing efforts to support the AKHD. The AKHD team was amazed by the total amount of the donation, reflecting the impact of the Biker4kids' dedication.

In addition to organising the annual parade, the core team of around 30 Biker4kids members participate in various events throughout the year, collecting donations for the AKHD with their donation boxes. This year, the Verein VdFU also received another 25,000 euros from the Biker4kids event.

Morena's touching story is a testament to the difference the Biker4kids and the Verein VdFU make in the lives of those they support. Morena was able to participate in a dolphin-assisted swimming therapy due to the help of the Verein VdFU, an experience that brought her immense joy and relief.

As the Biker4kids continue their mission, they are not just raising funds, but also spreading awareness about the vital work of the AKHD and the Verein VdFU. Their unwavering commitment is a shining example of the power of community spirit in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

  1. The Biker4kids' recent donation of 60,000 euros to the AKHD Düsseldorf is a significant contribution towards mental health and health-and-wellness services, which will assist in providing essential support for children with life-threatening illnesses.
