Heed the Sunscreen Alert!

French Sunscreens Recalled Nationwide Due to Infection Risk

Here's a piece of news you should know: Watch out for those ParaSol sunscreens you've been buying from the supermarkets! On the 2nd of May, a recall notice was issued for various ParaSol sunscreen products, sold across France between March 10th and April 30th 2025.

The cause? The dreaded bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, lurking within. According to Rappel Conso, this bacterium can potentially trigger skin irritation or infections, especially in sensitive, damaged, or fragile skin.

Brace yourself, as the list of affected sunscreens includes: Spray Sensitive 30, Spray Sensitive 50, Spray 30 Protection & Bronzing, Spray 50 Protection & Bronzing, Milk 50 Children, Spray 50+ Children, Face Cream Sensitive 50+, Milk Sensitive 50 mini, Spray Sensitive 30 mini, and Spray Sensitive 50 mini. You'll find these bad boys on shelves at Auchan, Intermarché, Leclerc, Carrefour, and Super U.

Now, you might be wondering, "What gives with certain sunscreen products?" The recall procedure is slated to end on June 30th. All batches with numbers starting from 0125 - 0225 - 0325 - 0425 are under the scanner. Simply look under the bottle for the batch number. Even if you've already bought one, don't worry: the government site advises you to "stop using and return the product to the point of sale" for reimbursement or exchange.

While slathering on sunscreen is a summer must, remember that not all sunscreens are created equal. Last summer, UFC-Que Choisir published a ranking of sunscreens to steer clear of. A product that caught their eye was the Bioderma Photoderm pediatrics spray 50+ due to an allegedly overestimated UVB protection on the label and inadequate UVA protection. So play it smart and stay safe under the sun!

Also, remember to check up on the ParaSol sunscreen recall if you're unsure. Reach out to the official websites of the French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) or the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for updated info. Additionally, it's a good idea to get in touch with your local retailers or check their websites for any announcements concerning the recall. Stay cool, stay clear, and stay safe!

  2. As you are aware, the importance of nutrition goes beyond just our internal health. Additionally, be cautious about the sunscreens you use, as recent findings show that certain suncare products may pose risks to our health-and-wellness.
