Fitbit's Charge 6 receives update with fresh watch faces and extended compatibility with exercise equipment

Fitbit Charge 6 Gets a Major Update for Enhanced Workout Experience

Fitbit has recently released an update for the Charge 6, expanding its compatibility with a variety of exercise machines and platforms, aiming to provide a more seamless and integrated workout experience for users.

New Compatible Equipment

The Charge 6 now communicates via Bluetooth or similar wireless protocols with compatible exercise machines, streaming your heart rate data directly to the machine’s display during workouts. This feature is designed to help users keep better track of their exertion without constantly glancing at their wrist, offering a more convenient gym experience.

According to Fitbit, the following exercise machines and platforms are officially supported:

  • Peloton: Bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines
  • iFit (NordicTrack)
  • Concept2 rowing machines
  • Tonal
  • Hydrow and Hydrow Wave rowing machines
  • Spinning bikes and their corresponding mobile apps
  • Echelon bikes and equipment
  • Strava app integration

Unsupported Equipment

Some known manufacturers are not yet compatible, including Garmin exercise machines, Life Fitness equipment, and Technogym products.

New Watch Faces

In addition to the expanded compatibility, the update also introduces three new watch faces (Momentum, Geometric, and Axira) designed to present key health data in a more user-friendly way while working out.

Other Improvements

The update aims to improve the Charge 6’s connectivity with exercise machines, allowing users to view their real-time heart rate on more workout machines. This upgrade also includes minor improvements made earlier this year, such as a Bluetooth security upgrade and new status indicators.

The Fitbit Charge 6, along with other Fitbit devices, can be purchased from retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, and Dell. Fitbit has provided a support document detailing how to view heart rate on equipment’s display.

This update is part of Fitbit’s latest patch notes, released on July 28, and also includes fixes for the Inspire 3, Versa 4, and Sense 2.
