Farmers will have access to these innovative plant protection products from BASF starting in 2026.
BASF, a global leader in chemical production, is set to introduce two new products to the agricultural sector: Luximo and Delan® SC.
Luximo, an innovative herbicide, is scheduled to be introduced in Germany in autumn 2026 after a lengthy approval process. Developed since 2018, Luximo is fully developed and can be applied reliably and flexibly, adapting to local soil conditions and weather conditions. The herbicide is designed to control field horsetail and couch grass, and it has already been approved in the UK since 2022.
The application guidelines for Luximo will be similar to other soil herbicides, and its use will be closely monitored by local advisors. Luximo is highly reliable and effective against existing resistances, making it a valuable addition to the arsenal of competitive agriculture.
Maria Valtin, the head of Technology & Consulting Germany at BASF, emphasises the importance of continued innovation in agriculture. "Competitive agriculture will continue to need innovations," she says.
In addition to Luximo, BASF is also set to launch Delan® SC in the 2026 season. This product is designed to control false mildew in viticulture. Delan® SC contains the well-established active ingredient Dithianon, against which no resistances are known so far. The innovative formulation of Delan® SC has significantly reduced the necessary active ingredient amount for effective disease control.
BASF has a long history of researching active ingredients and mechanisms of action for the agricultural sector. With over 110 years of experience, the company invests approximately 2.5 million euros in agricultural research every day.
Another product from BASF for the 2022 season is Divexo®, a fungicide that works well against resistant fungal strains and has high rainfastness and UV stability. Divexo® can be used in potatoes (BBCH 21 - 89), table onions, and garlic, with an application rate of 2 l/ha, and a maximum of two applications per season possible.
The long approval processes in the EU and Germany are delaying the practical implementation of these developments. However, with Luximo and Delan® SC set to enter the market in the near future, BASF continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing innovative solutions for the agricultural industry.
