In an effort to promote safety and prevention for older cyclists, the Kreispolizeibehörde Borken has announced the launch of a new initiative called "Senior Cycling." This prevention work forms part of the circular and police's broader commitment to road safety.

The first event of Senior Cycling will take place on 25th September 2025, in Borken. Registration for this event can be made by telephone on 02861-900-6161. The initiative will provide valuable tips on cycling behaviour, including safe practices at intersections, roundabouts, and the use of cycle paths.

The route guidance for Senior Cycling is based on current accident hotspots in the circular area, ensuring that participants are well-informed about potential risks on the roads. The safety-focused concept is limited to a maximum of twelve participants to ensure a personalised and effective learning experience.

The kick-off event for Senior Cycling will take place on 28th August 2025 in Gronau. Further events are scheduled for 9th October 2025 in Bocholt and 30th October 2025 in Ahaus.

The Circular Borken boasts the highest ownership rate of pedelecs nationwide, making it an ideal location for such an initiative. For media inquiries, please contact the Circular Police Department, where you can reach Sandra Biedermann, Leonie Dreier, Markus Huls, Peter Lefering, Thorsten Ohm, Muzeyyen Sander, and Tina Schellberg. Their website is borken.polizei.nrw.

Senior Cycling emphasises the importance of helmets, lights, and roadworthy equipment, underscoring the initiative's commitment to promoting safe cycling practices among older cyclists. For more information and to register for upcoming events, please visit this link.
