Discovered remnants suspected as those of a former soldier under investigation for murdering his three daughters located in Washington state
In a shocking turn of events, Travis Decker, a former soldier with training in navigation, survival, and other skills, is suspected of kidnapping and murdering his three daughters in Washington state.
The tragedy unfolded on 2 June when Decker failed to return the girls to their mother's home in Wenatchee following a scheduled visit. Concerns grew as Decker's mother reported the girls missing to the police, and his phone went straight to voicemail.
The search for the girls and Decker led to a remote wooded area outside Leavenworth, where the remains of the girls—Paityn Decker (9), Evelyn Decker (8), and Olivia Decker (5)—were found at a campsite, alongside Decker's truck. Preliminary examinations suggest the girls died of asphyxiation.
Positive identification of the remains is yet to be confirmed, but preliminary findings strongly suggest they belong to Decker's daughters. The news has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly at Lincoln Elementary, where the girls attended school.
Decker served in the US Army from 2013 until an unspecified date, and he later joined the Washington National Guard in 2021. However, he stopped attending drills about a year ago, and his part-time service in the Washington National Guard ended in the past few years.
Last September, authorities were warned by the girls' mother that Decker was experiencing mental health issues and had become increasingly unstable. This concerning development was followed by Decker's disappearance with his daughters.
The search for Decker, now a fugitive, covered hundreds of square miles of mountainous and remote areas. The US Marshals Service offered a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to his capture. Over 100 personnel from state and federal agencies were involved in the search effort.
As of now, there are no publicly available or credible updates on the whereabouts of Travis Decker related to the June 2022 investigation. The community hopes for closure and justice in this tragic case.
