"Council adopts 'Bonn Inclusive 2025' resolution"
The city of Bonn, known for its role in hosting UNFCCC meetings and climate change discussions, has unveiled its latest initiative - the "Bonn Inclusive" Participation Plan 2025. This plan, aimed at fostering a more inclusive community, can be accessed here.
At the heart of this plan is a commitment to inclusivity and transparency. This is evident in the 2025 Bonn Climate Change sessions, where the emphasis on restoring trust and strengthening processes is centered around these core principles.
The city administration, along with representatives from politics and organizations of people with disabilities, has collaborated to create this plan. The Department of Social Affairs and Housing plays a significant role in its development.
The "Bonn Inclusive" plan focuses on various life areas, including family, education, work, housing, cultural/social participation, health and care, barrier-free accessibility, and self-representation of people with disabilities.
To ensure the plan is accessible to all, a group of experts in their own cause will test its readability, and the translation into easy-to-understand language will be handled by the business office of the Disability Political Participation Plan.
Citizens, politics, the city's disability commissioner, the city administration, and other societal actors developed 15 standards and 81 action recommendations through a participatory process for the further development of the plan.
Moreover, the plan prioritizes the needs of people with disabilities and aims to improve their living situation in Bonn. The Bonn Disability Community e.V., which has been supporting the city as the disability commissioner for 20 years, plays a crucial role in this endeavour.
In the spirit of inclusivity, a group coordinating the text heroes and the impact assessment group will be led by the disability commissioner of the city of Bonn. In the future, a group of experts in their own cause will be involved in the impact assessment of the plan.
The city council has approved the plan, pending approval by the Bad Godesberg district council. The plan, once adopted, will serve as the basis for Bonn's actions to implement the UN Convention.
The "Bonn Inclusive" plan, initially developed in 2009, has been serving as the foundation for Bonn's actions since 2011. The further developed "Bonn Inclusive" plan will continue this legacy, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable Bonn for all its residents.
