Consultation Conducted on Draft Directive Safeguarding Workers from Radiation Hazards

On Monday, August 11, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded at the Eglisau power plant in Freiburg, Germany. A 31-year-old Swiss resident jumped into the Rhine and disappeared, prompting an immediate large-scale rescue operation.

The operation involved several boats from the DLRG, the volunteer fire department, and the Swiss Civil Protection, as well as a police and rescue helicopter from Switzerland. The news about the incident was transmitted by news aktuell from the Police Headquarters Freiburg.

The incident occurred around 17:30, and despite the best efforts of the rescue teams, the man did not resurface. The search continued on both sides of the Rhine until around 19:30, when the man was retrieved lifeless from the Rhine at Hohentengen.
