Coach Monica McGinnis Donates Hair Again for Breast Cancer Awareness
Monica McGinnis, a dedicated U13 girls hockey coach, is once again donating her hair to support cancer patients. The 'Walk For Her' event, open to the public, will unite hundreds at the Shady Nook Recreation Centre on October 4th, aiming to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Monica, who coaches the Ottawa Valley Thunder, has previously donated her hair three times to create wigs for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This year, she continues her support, with her team hoping to raise at least $1,000 for the cause.
The 'Walk For Her' event encourages participants to walk, run, or simply show their support. It's a day filled with activities, including a silent auction and family-friendly games. The event aims to bring the community together to honour those affected by breast cancer and to raise crucial funds for research and support services.
The 'Walk For Her' takes place on Saturday, October 4th, from 11AM to 4PM at the Shady Nook Recreation Centre. Monica's hair donation and the Thunder team's fundraising efforts are expected to make a significant impact. The event is open to all, inviting everyone to join in supporting breast cancer awareness and those affected by the disease.
