Charity Organization SVdP NKY's Summer Breeze Program Distributes Air Conditioners and Fans to Aid in Cooling Families this Summer
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky (SVdP NKY) continues to offer much-needed assistance to local families during the hot summer months, thanks to the success of their Summer Breeze Program.
This unique heat relief initiative, Northern Kentucky's only one of its kind, has been backed by various community partners, including St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Arlinghaus Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electrical. Other sponsors and supporters have also joined forces with SVdP NKY to ensure the program's ongoing success.
The Summer Breeze Program has distributed over 370 fans and 255 air conditioning units to families in need this summer, providing safety and comfort to children, the elderly, and those with respiratory illnesses, heart problems, or other serious pre-existing health conditions.
Extreme heat can exacerbate conditions like asthma and COPD, often leading to emergency visits or hospitalizations. By providing essential cooling devices, the Summer Breeze Program helps prevent these outcomes and ensures patients can breathe easier and live safer, healthier lives.
St. Elizabeth Healthcare is proud to support the Summer Breeze Program, as it aligns with their mission of improving the health and well-being of the community. Madalyn Reller, marketing director at Arlinghaus Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electric, shares this sentiment, stating that their support of the program aligns with their mission of making homes and lives happier.
Becca Gerding, Programs Director at SVdP NKY, emphasizes the importance of generous supporters in making the program possible. 'Providing heat relief during the summer heat wave would not have been possible without the support of our generous partners,' she said.
A limited number of fans are still available for Northern Kentucky residents in need through SVdP NKY's Summer Breeze Program. Those interested can apply by calling SVdP NKY's Assistance Help Line at 859-341-3219, Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
For more information about SVdP NKY's assistance programs and how you can get involved, visit www.svdpnky.org. Dr. Chaitanya Mandapakala, a pulmonologist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, urges the community to support the program, stating that it directly impacts the health and well-being of vulnerable neighbors.
