Cargill Honored for Excellent Food Safety Practices and Steadfast Dedication at the CII Food Safety Awards 2024

Cargill, a family-owned company with a rich history of 159 years, has once again demonstrated its dedication to food safety and quality. The global food and agriculture company recently received recognition at the 15th edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Food Safety Awards 2024.

The Kurkumbh plant in Maharashtra was awarded 'Outstanding Performance in Food Safety', while the Kandla plant in Gujarat received 'Strong Commitment in Food Safety'. These accolades highlight Cargill's unwavering commitment to food safety excellence.

The CII Food Safety Award is one of India's most respected industry platforms, recognizing food safety best practices across the supply chain. Covering 23 food business sectors, it serves as a benchmark for excellence in food safety across various sectors of the food industry, including Beverages, Dairy, Bakery, Edible Oils, Ready-to-Eat Snacks, and more.

The assessment process for the awards includes detailed onsite evaluations by a team of experts to ensure that only the best practices in food safety are recognized. This year, the awards ceremony took place in New Delhi and was attended by various dignitaries, including Hashmat Ali Yatoo, Commissioner of Food Safety and Drugs Administration in Jammu and Kashmir, Minhaj Alam, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Dr Alka Rao, Advisor - Science, Standards & Regulations Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and Kavery Ganguly, Principal Lead, CII Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (FACE).

Cargill's Kurkumbh plant features state-of-the-art infrastructure, in-house testing facilities, and automated packaging lines. The plant in Vadodara and Surat, which were also awarded the CII Food Safety Award in 2024, boast similar advanced facilities.

Sunil Nair, B2B Go-to-Market and R&D and Technical Services & Application Leader at Cargill, added that the recognition highlights their dedication to food safety excellence. Simon George, Managing Director of Cargill Food South Asia, commented on the achievement, stating that it reflects the team's unwavering commitment to food safety and quality.

Cargill's commitment to food safety and quality extends beyond India. In 2023, Cargill received two awards for 'Significant Achievement in Food Safety' for its Kurkumbh and Davangere plants. The company remains dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation in food safety, ensuring that their products not only meet but exceed global food safety standards.
