A Haval car ran over a 9-year-old kid on a bike Monday evening in the Tomsk microdistrict of Severnyi, sending shockwaves through the community. Witnesses report the unfortunate event happened around 6:55 PM on Marina Tsvetaeva street, house number 36.
According to the police press service, the traffic accident occurred as a 35-year-old woman driving a Haval lost control, plowing into the young bike rider who crossed the street against the traffic flow.
"Preliminary reports indicate the driver, in an apparent lapse of attention, veered off the road and struck the 9-year-old cyclist, who was crossing the street from left to right along the direction of the vehicle's movement," police stated.
It's been confirmed that the cyclist was treated on the spot by emergency responders.
